FALL 2009 NEWSLETTER

The summer season is slowly winding down...Trap finished on 8/18 with some fun shooting for all. We did a hunt and cover, annie oakley, and numerous merchandise shoots. Then awards and trophies went out to those present.  Our top adult shooter this year was Vic Roeder and the top youth shooter was Tyler Hetzel. Next year, we look forward to having a women's team.  Consider coming out next year to join us, even if you don't know how to shoot trap.  We have several people willing to teach.  Don't figure you're team material, no problem...it's not required. We have league and non-league shooters every week.

Sporting Clays has their last shoot Wednesday, Aug. 26.

IPSC/USPSA, IDPA, and Cowboy Action have shoots through October.

Thank you to all who helped with events this year. Volunteers make this club function; therefore, we are only as good as the help!  There have been several behind the scenes contributors, too. Central Wisconsin Gun Collector's Assc. has donated $700 so far this year toward our new range development. Plans have been designed and word is slowly going out for fill for the new berms. If you know of someone, please call Mike @748-4833 or Joe @748-5371.  We do not want any asphalt products, though.  The lease for the agricultural part is in effect for 2 more years.

Fundraisers, like the Brat Fry at Pick N Save, the educational basic pistol classes, and IDPA instructional classes help tremendously, but we need more.

If you have any experience in this area, please let us know.  For those that have donated your money, we are deeply appreciative. We understand that not everybody has the time or skills to help in that way.

The indoor range will open late October or so.  Joe could sure use some help cleaning out the summer residents.  We have siding for the front wall and could use some help putting up insulation panels and the siding. Give Joe a call if you can help out in some way.

The outdoor range now has a security system in effect.  There just doesn't seem to be enough reason for some parties to find suitable targets other than the storage trailers and cowboy props.  Please protect your range privileges by having your membership card with you and asking others for proof of theirs.  If you are not comfortable with that and the party seems suspicious, get their auto license number and description and call one of the club officers.  Vandalism that is allowed to continue will eventually cost in other ways, as well. Increased dues has been a keen issue for 2 years now. Getting a new range, with new equipment----who wants that damaged or destroyed?

Lastly, we will be having a sight-in for deer season on November 14 and 15.  Details will be determined later.

Membership is currently at 32 Life members, 90 full members and 27 limited event members.
